A spectacular leading of the Spirit may not be what you REALLY want.
As a believer, the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of you. He doesn’t need to use outward sources to lead you, but sometimes He does. These outward sources (e.g. prophetic words, the “voice” of the Lord, etc.) are what I term “spectacular” leadings… something out of the ordinary and special. We generally like “special” experiences, and I used to hunger for these “spectacular” leadings from the Lord.
Through the years I’ve come to realize “spectacular” leadings of the Spirit tend to precede times of trouble or difficulty, time when you’ll be glad you have something out of the ordinary to hold on to.
Personally, after some of the experiences I’ve had, I’ve begun to shy away from such leadings. I’d rather learn how to follow the quiet (unspectacular) leadings of the Lord. Those leadings have become more precious to me… particularly in light of what’s in store for me when I receive the “spectacular”.
Don’t know if that makes sense to you… It does to me.
“For the earnest expectation of the [creation] waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.” – Romans 8:19
God is the same God He was in the New Testament, and will guide men and women today as He did in the past.
“There are many voices in the world, and none of them is without significance.” – Paul
One mistake some make… They want so badly to be led by the Spirit that they try too hard… and end up wrong.
Many try to hear God with their physical ears. It doesn’t work that way.
He then laid hands on her, prayed for her to receive her sight, and sure enough… she saw…
He showed me exactly what to do, and how to hold her ears.
A few months after her miracle she was informed of a pre-cancerous condition in one of her ears…
At the core of relationship is communication.
In your learning experiences you’ll miss His leading. Don’t worry about it… He has it covered.
Don’t be afraid to practice. You have to practice if you want to become proficient at anything.
“Holy Spirit, I have no idea where I would find a fried chicken restaurant, but You know right where one is. Please lead me to it.”
You really don’t have to know HOW to seek God. Just be determined to get the answer you need.

In all my “works” I found I could produce no eternal value, but in “returning and rest” He was able to speak to me and lead me for His eternal purpose.
